Women's Basketball Falls In SUNYAC Semifinals to New Paltz, 53-41

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team couldn't make it to the State University of New York Athletic Conference Championship game as they fell to New Paltz in the semifinals 53-41.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Knights got off to a hot start as they jumped ahead 6-0 on the Hawks just three minutes into the action. Junior guard Hannah Stockman got the scoring started, then junior guard Taylor Hansen and sophomore guard Kiley Snow each chipped in a layup to get the lead to six.
  • Geneseo's offense struggled to bounce back after New Paltz made a run to take the lead, but a three-point shot from Snow with a minute left in the second quarter helped the Knights keep the deficit at just three points heading to halftime.
  • The Hawks came out firing in the third quarter and dropped 19 points to take a commanding lead into the final 10 minutes. Geneseo's offense fought back in the fourth quarter and scored 20 points in a comeback attempt, but couldn't overcome the large deficit and fell 53-41.
