Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior guard Taylor Hansen scored a career-high 15 points as the Knights held off visiting Fredonia, 60-50, on Friday night at Schrader Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights jumped out to an early lead, pulling ahead, 17-8, when first-year guard Mackenzie Reigle finished a driving layup with just over three minutes remaining in the first quarter. Fredonia closed the quarter on a 9-2 run to cut the Geneseo lead to 19-17 at the end of the frame.
- In the second quarter, the Blue Devils tied the game, 23-23, with 5:23 remaining, but Reigle and junior forward Lauren Romito responded with back-to-back buckets as the home team went into halftime, leading 29-25.
- Fredonia pulled to within one point in the first minute of the third period, but senior forward Megan Roell finished with seven third-quarter points and Hansen netted six as the Knights outscored the Blue Devils, 19-10, to take a 48-35 lead into the fourth.
- Fredonia closed the gap to just six points, 56-50, with under a minute to play but Geneseo hit their free throws down the stretch and earned three crucial defensive stops in the final minute to hold on for the victory.

- Hansen finished with 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting while Romito finished with 10 points and nine rebounds and junior guard Hannah Stockman chipped in with 10 points as well.
- Geneseo won the rebounding battle, 42-30, pulling 14 offensive rebounds. The Knights recorded 10 steals and scored eight points off turnovers.
- The Knights earned their ninth-straight victory as they clinched at least the fourth seed in the SUNYAC Tournament, and can move as high as second in the regular season standings with a victory on Saturday at Cortland.
