POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team earned its eighth-straight win on Saturday afternoon as they survived a second half comeback attempt from Potsdam. The 56-53 win improved the Knights to 15-8 overall and 11-5 in SUNYAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Geneseo jumped ahead early on Potsdam as they took a 12-2 advantage six minutes into the action after a made three-point shot from sophomore guard Kelly McLaughlin.
• The Knights continued to hold a strong lead over the Bears in the second quarter of action, and ended up with their largest lead of the half at 14 points following a layup from junior guard Taylor Hansen with two minutes left. Geneseo went on to take a 31-18 lead into halftime.
• Potsdam continued to trail by double-digits in the third quarter, but made a 13-1 run near the end of the quarter to make it a one-point game at 42-41. Sophomore guard Kiley Snow closed out the quarter with a buzzer-beater three for the Knights though to make it a two-possession game heading to the final 10 minutes.
• The Bears tied the game at 51-51 with two minutes left in the game, but junior guard Hannah Stockman drained a big three after three-straight offensive rebounds by the Knights. Potsdam was unable to tie the game in the final minute and Geneseo held on for its eighth-straight win.

QUICK FACTS

• The Knights had three scorers in double-digits, with first-year guard Mackenzie Reigle leading the way at 12 points. Snow and Hansen each tallied 10 points.
• Sophomore forward Kerry Dennin led the team in rebounds with 10, while Snow fell one short of a double-double at nine rebounds. Reigle chipped in eight assists.
• Geneseo's win marked their eighth-straight this season and 23rd-consecutive against Potsdam.
