Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Men's Ice Hockey team skated to a 4-1 victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival Brockport on Friday night at Wegman's Arena in Brockport.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the first period when sophomore forward Peter Morgan scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season. Matthew Doran and Justin Cmunt earned assists on the play as Geneseo pulled ahead with 9:40 to play in the period.
- Senior defenseman Matthew Doran doubled the Knights lead with a goal in the first minute of the second period. Morgan and Cmunt tallied assists as Geneseo took a 2-0 lead.
- Junior forward Mitch Machlitt netted a goal later in the second period, as Tyson Gilmour and Nicolas Elia each earned an assist to make it 3-0. Brockport got on the board with just over two minutes to play in the second period to cut it to 3-1 just before the second intermission.
- Geneseo outshot Brockport, 12-5, in the third period and finally added an insurance goal with 4:41 to play. Alex Dameski and Mitch Machlitt connected passes to Stefan Miklakos, who finished the play with a goal to make it 4-1.
QUICK FACTS
- Morgan scored his ninth goal of the season, tallying a goal in his fourth-consecutive game. Miklakos tallied his eighth while Doran netted his third of the year and Machlitt scored his second of the season.
- Senior forward Justin Cmunt dished off two assists to lead seven Knights with at least one apple. Tyson Gilmour earned an assist, tallying his ninth of the season and his seventh in the last five games.
- Senior goalkeeper Matt Petizian made 18 saves to earn the victory, improving to 9-2-1 in goal this season.

The Knights improve to 9-3-2 overall with a 5-2-1 mark in SUNYAC play and will take a well-deserved holiday break. Geneseo will return to action on Friday, January 6 when they travel to face SUNY Canton at 7:00 p.m.
