Lauren Romito posted a career-high 27 points and added 11 rebounds to go with three blocks as the Knights moved past visiting Fredonia, 63-56, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Schrader Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo got off to a cold start, shooting just 4-for-11 in the first quarter as Fredonia jumped out to a 13-6 lead.Â
- Senior guard Hannah Stockman and junior guard Kiley Snow each hit a three-pointer in the final 1:06 of the first quarter as the Knights drew level, 13-13 before the end of the frame.Â
- The Knights scored the first 10 points of the second quarter to cap a 17-0 run and take a 23-13 with 5:46 remaining in the first half. Fredonia drew to within three, 23-20, but six-straight points from Romito triggered a 10-1 run to end the half as the home team took a 33-21 advantage into the halftime break.Â
- Romito opened the second half with a layup to give the Knights their largest lead of the game, 35-21, but the Blue Devils hung around, cutting the lead to just nine points at the end of the period.Â
- Fredonia cut the lead to just four points with 1:50 remaining, but Geneseo went 5-for-8 from the foul line and posted four defensive stops in the final 1:50 to hold the lead and earn the win.Â

- Romito finished 10-for-11 from the floor and 7-for-11 from the foul line to pour in a career-high 27 points, crushing her previous career-high of 17 points. Romito also added three blocks, becoming just the fifth Knight in program history to reach 100 career blocks.
- Senior guard Hannah Stockman added 13 points while junior guard Kiley Snow scored nine. Senior guard Taylor Hansen led the team with six assists and added three steals as well.Â
- The Knights shot 23-for-48 (47.9%) from the floor while holding Fredonia to 21-for-62 (33.9%). The Knights outrebounded the Blue Devils, 40-31, including 12 offensive rebounds.Â
