Men's Basketball Caps Off Weekend With 77-68 Win Over Fredonia

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball capped off a 2-0 weekend of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play by defeating Fredonia 77-68 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights were able to ride a hot start for the second straight game, as they jumped ahead 8-2 behind three buckets from sophomore guard Sebastian Pacheco in the opening four minutes.
  • Geneseo continued to put the pressure on the Blue Devils throughout the half, leading by as much as 21 points. The Knights shot over 59 percent from the field in the first half and took a 39-20 lead into the second half.
  • Fredonia found their rhythm offensively in the second half, but the Knights never allowed the score to get within single digits until just over a minute remaining in the game. The Knights improved to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in SUNYAC play with the 77-68 victory.

QUICK FACTS
  • Pacheco paced the Geneseo offense with a career-high 22 points on 8-15 shooting from the field. He was also one rebound away from posting a double-double.
  • The Knights had four players reach double-digits, with Cole Kattan (14), Raymond Grabowski (13), and Harrison Dignan (12) joining Pacheco. Dignan chipped in seven assists for the offense as well.
  • In both of Geneseo's wins this weekend, they led by 19 points at halftime and never trailed in the game.

The Knights will travel to Keuka on December 6 for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
