Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Men's Ice Hockey team fell on the road to host Cortland, 2-1, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on Saturday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights and Red Dragons skated through a scoreless first period with Cortland outshooting Geneseo, 12-10.
- In the second period, Cortland grabbed the lead just nine seconds into the frame, making it 1-0.
- With just under four minutes remaining in the period, the Red Dragons added another tally to give them a 2-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
- Geneseo got on the scoreboard midway through the third period when Tommy Winn and Greg Koutsomitis connected passes to find Zach Rehbaum who finished from in front of the net to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
- Peter Morgan and Cooper Fensterstock each put shots on goal in the final minute as the Knights pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker, but the Red Dragons held on for the one-goal victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Senior goaltender Matt Petizian made 32 saves in net for a .941 save percentage, but took the loss.
- Rehbaum tallied his second goal of the 2022-23 campaign while Koutsomitis earned his first assist of the year and Winn tallied his third.
