Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo Women's Basketball team mounted an aggressive fourth-quarter rally to erase a 15-point deficit, but ultimately fell to visiting Ithaca, 57-50, on Tuesday night at Schrader Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior guard Taylor Hansen converted a driving layup to open the scoring but the Bombers responded with a 10-0 run to take the lead. Junior guard Kylie Snow drilled a three and sophomore guard Mackenzie Reigle scored three points but the Knights trailed, 15-8 after the initial frame.
- The Knights held the Bombers to just eight points in the second quarter. Junior forward Kerry Dennin and senior forward Lauren Romito scored four points each as the Knights went on an 8-0 run to cut the Bomber lead to 19-16 with under a minute in the quarter, but Ithaca scored four-straight to end the half with a 23-16 lead.
- Ithaca led by as many as 15 points, taking a 47-32 lead with 6:52 to play, but the Knights battled back as Hannah Stockman and Kylie Snow hit back-to-back three-pointers to cut the lead to single-digits. Ithaca scored on their next offensive possession but Kelly McLaughlin responded with a driving layup to make it 49-40 with 4:29 to go.
- Snow hit a pair of threes to make it 49-46 with 2:44 to play and McLaughlin added a jumper to cut the lead to 51-50 with 58 seconds to play. Ithaca extended its lead with a driving layup to make it 53-50 with 32 seconds remaining and went 4-for-4 from the foul line in the final 15 seconds to seal the result.
QUICK FACTS
- Snow finished with a team-high 17 points, shooting 5-for-10 (50.0%) from beyond the arc. Through three games, Snow is shooting 9-for-15 (60.0%) from distance and 14-for-24 (58.3%) from the field.
- Romito finished with eight points and added a game-high 14 rebounds with two blocks. McLaughlin added seven points off the bench for the Knights.
- The Knights held Ithaca to just 3-for-15 (20.0%) shooting from beyond the arc, but the Bombers shot 24-for-57 (42.1%) overall while the Knights went 19-for-53 (35.8%) from the floor.
