Jackie Borland finished with seven kills and six blocks but it wasn't enough to lead the Knights past visiting Cortland as the Red Dragons took a 3-1 victory, 25-17, 30-28, 25-17, 25-13, on Friday night at Schrader Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first set, Geneseo jumped out to an 8-4 lead as senior outside Isabella Imbo capped the run with a service ace. Cortland responded with six-straight points to take a 10-8 lead. Kills from Borland and Linda Rossi kept the Knights within striking distance but the Red Dragons pulled away for a 25-17 first set victory.
- In the second set, Geneseo battled for a 30-28 victory to level the match, 1-1. Geneseo fell behind Cortland late in the set, 19-16, but Madison Gamberg served up three-straight to tie the match, 19-19. The two teams battled back and forth before Linda Rossi put down a kill to give Geneseo a 29-28 lead and added an ace to cap the set, 30-28.
- In the third, Geneseo fell behind early but pulled to within a point, 12-11, when Linda Rossi buried a kill midway through the set. Cortland won five of the next six points and never relinquished the lead, taking a 2-1 advantage into the fourth.
- Cortland swung at a .310 attacking clip in the fourth set and added three service aces as they earned the 3-1 victory.

- Emily Haber led the Knights' defense with 20 digs while Borland tallied six blocks and Julia Wallace added five.
- Allie Driesen tallied 14 assists while Carolyn Mack added 13 assists and a pair of kills.
