BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Field Hockey finished off an unbeaten State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) regular season with a 2-0 victory over host Brockport on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the first half, Geneseo outshot Brockport, 6-0, and recorded three penalty corner opportunities while holding the Golden Eagles without any, but still went into halftime tied, 0-0.
  • Brockport came out of the halftime break with intensity, firing three shots on goal before Geneseo had a chance to respond, but senior goalkeeper Sarah Quinlan turned each attempt away.
  • Junior defender Olivia Hernick broke the scoreless tie in the 40th minute, coming up from the back of the Knights' formation to score her first goal of the year, giving the team a 1-0 lead.
  • In the fourth quarter, senior forward Maggie Phipps tallied an important insurance goal, increasing the Knights' advantage to 2-0 with just over three minutes to play. Senior defender Olivia Vinciguerra earned an assist on the play.
