Liv Raucci and senior forward Lindsey Wright each tallied a goal as the Knights defeated State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival Brockport, 2-0, at Dr. Linda Arena Field on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute when first-year forward Abby Foster slipped a pass up the field to Raucci, who beat the keeper to give Geneseo the advantage.Â
- Raucci and junior forward Juliette Frischmann each had quality chances late in the first half, but Brockport denied both attempts as the Knights took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.Â
- In the second half, the Knights extended the lead just six minutes into the period. Hannah Sullivan executed a give-and-go with Wright, who received the final pass inside the 18-yard box, created space and blasted a left-footed shot past the keeper.Â
- Senior goalkeeper Angel Bennett made three second half saves to keep the Knights ahead and secure the clean sheet as Geneseo earned the 2-0 victory.Â
