Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo fifth-year
Nicole Bell scored the eventual game-winner in the second half to lead the Knights past visiting Oneonta, 3-1, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on Saturday afternoon at College Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the first half when junior Lindsey Clar finished a corner kick set piece with a headed goal in the 18th minute. Hannah Sullivan earned the assist on the play.
- Geneseo had the opportunity to take a 2-0 lead, but the Oneonta goalkeeper stopped a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. Just two minutes later, the Red Dragons equalized on a counter attack to level the score 1-1.
- In the 52nd minute, Bell broke loose for a breakaway but was taken down by the last defender, drawing a red card and forcing the Red Dragons to play with 10 players the rest of the way.
- Bell broke loose again later in the second half, collecting a through ball from McKinley Skala and slipping it under the charging keeper to make it 2-1 with just under 30 minutes to play.
- Later in the half first-year forward Abby Foster finished off a loose ball on a corner kick to extend the lead to 3-1.
QUICK FACTS
- Clar tallied her first goal of the season while Bell notched her second of the year. Foster's goal marked the first score of her collegiate career.
- Angel Bennett earned the victory in goal with one save on two shots faced.
