Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior goalkeeper Matt Petizian made 15 saves and posted his second shutout of the season as the Knights earned a 3-0 victory over visiting Stevenson on Friday night at Ira S. Wilson Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Petizian made four saves in the first few minutes keeping the Mustangs at bay as they tried to jump on the Knights early. Midway through the first period junior forward Justin Cmunt put the squad on the board, scoring on a blistering one-timer from the right side to make it 1-0.
- Just over three minutes later, first-year forward Jared Thomas stole the puck in the Stevenson zone and combined with junior defenseman Alex Wilkins to set up first-year forward Stefan Miklakos. Miklakos buried a shot from between the circles in transition to put Geneseo ahead, 2-0, with 7:17 to play in the first period.
- Early in the second period, senior forward Dan Bosio turned defense into offense. The team captain blocked a shot and dished the breakout pass to junior defenseman Matthew Doran. The puck made its way back to Bosio in the slot as he slipped home the wrister to make it 3-0.
- Petizian closed out the Mustangs, helping the Knights to kill off all four power plays they faced, ending the Mustangs' longest unbeaten streak in program history (10 games).
