Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior Megan Roell finished with 13 points and nine rebounds to lead the Knights to a 77-38 victory over visiting Plattsburgh on Saturday at Schrader Gymnasium. Geneseo honored Roell, its lone senior in a pre-game ceremony to celebrate Senior Day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Plattsburgh jumped out to an early 6-1 lead but the Knights responded with a 14-1 run to take a 15-7 lead with just over two minutes to play in the quarter. Sophomore guard Kelly McLaughlin finished a driving layup and senior forward Megan Roell added a foul shot as the Knights took a 18-9 lead into the second quarter.
- The Cardinals battled back to within five points, 26-21, with 3:49 remaining. Sophomore guard Kylie Snow scored five points to spur a 13-0 run to end the quarter as the Knights extended their lead to 39-21 at the halftime break.
- Geneseo took over in the second half, outscoring Plattsburgh, 38-17. Snow led the squad with six second half points while 11 Knights finished with at least one made field goal. Sophomore guard Meghan Lebaron drilled a three to cap the scoring as Geneseo earned the 77-38 victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Snow finished with 14 points while Roell tallied 13, first-year guard Mackenzie Reigle added 11 points and sophomore forward Kerry Dennin scored 10.
- Geneseo outrebounded Plattsburgh, 48-32, recorded 12 steals and committed just 13 turnovers. The Knights shot 50.8% (31-for-61) while holding Plattsburgh to just 21.1% (12-for-57) shooting.
- Geneseo scored 48 points in the paint and added 10 second-chance points while the Knights' bench outscored the Cardinals' bench, 34-14.
