Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team was unable to repeat its winning performance against New Paltz from earlier this week as they fell on the road to the Hawks, 59-46.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights came out hot on offense, jumping ahead 14-8 halfway through the first quarter following a 10-0 run that was capped off by a three from freshman guard Mackenzie Reigle.
- The Hawks defense stepped up in the final 2:30 of the opening quarter, holding Geneseo to just one point. The defensive stand allowed New Paltz to take a 19-17 lead into the second quarter.
- Geneseo found themselves trailing by as many as 11 points in the second frame, but quickly mounted a comeback and cut the Hawks advantage to just three points heading to halftime.
- The Knights offense struggled to maintain the same pace in the second half, but a made three from junior forward Lauren Romito before the start of the fourth quarter kept them within striking distance at just a five-point deficit.
- The Hawks were able to expand their lead early in the fourth quarter and went on to avenge their loss from earlier this week with a 59-46 win.

- Reigle led the Geneseo offense with 11 points, while Romito and senior forward Megan Roell chipped in nine and eight points, respectively.
