Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team earned its second-straight SUNYAC shutout victory with a 2-0 win over New Paltz on Saturday afternoon at College Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 26th minute, Geneseo took a 1-0 lead as they converted on the counter. Senior forward Nicole Bell released senior midfielder Hannah Sullivan on a long through ball. Sullivan one-timed a pass across the goal box to sophomore forward Olivia Raucci who finished off the play with a goal.
- The Knights added to their lead in the 60th minute as Sullivan crossed a ball from the left flank and junior forward McKinley Skala finished with a right-footed half-volley to make it 2-0.
- Prior to the goal from Skala, junior defender Ashleigh Scheidweiler made a big defense save on the goal line after a corner kick from the Hawks. The defense save immediately led to a counter attack, where Geneseo was able to add to their lead.
QUICK FACTS
- The win marked the Knights eighth-consecutive win over New Paltz, and their third-straight shutout victory over them.
- First-year goalkeeper Mollie Collins earned her second career win in goal, as well as her second shutout with six saves.
- The two-win weekend for Geneseo also made it five-straight seasons where the Knights have swept the regular season series against Oneonta and New Paltz.
