Box Score ONEONTA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team evened the score against No. 11 SUNY Oneonta twice in the second half, but ultimately couldn't keep the Red Dragons off the board and surrended the game-winning goal in the 86th minute.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Oneonta led 1-0 at halftime, but less than 20 minutes into the second half, the Knights broke through the Red Dragons defense behind an unassisted goal from junior midfielder Adam Astarita. Geneseo played the ball into the box, and after a scramble to clear the ball, Astarita was able to land a great shot past the goalie to make the score 1-1.
- The Red Dragons came up with a quick answer to the Knights goal to regain the lead, but junior forward Matt Volz and the Knights were able to score the equalizer again. A corner kick from junior midfielder Liam Mulderig found Volz in front of the net in the 69th minute to even the score at 2-2.
- After three goals scored within seven minutes of each other, Oneonta was able to come out of the scoring flurry with the game-winning goal in the 86th minute.
