Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team battled hard, but fell to host Ithaca, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Higgins Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ithaca scored just over five minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Knights had a chance to equalize later in the period, but sophomore forward Katrina Clare's shot was saved.
- Both teams were held without a shot in the second period as the Bombers took a 1-0 lead into the break.
- Ithaca outshot Geneseo, 8-3, in the third quarter, but junior goalkeeper Sarah Quinlan made four saves in the period to keep the Knights within one goal.
- The Knights earned a penalty corner in the fourth and final period, but their attempts were turned away as the Bombers earned the victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Geneseo was held scoreless for the first time since Oct. 27, 2018. The Knights had scored at least one goal in each of their last 28 games, posting a 22-6 mark over that stretch.
- Clare and junior forward Maggie Phipps each registered a shot on goal, but both were stopped by the Ithaca goalkeeper.
- Ithaca outshot the Knights 16-5 over the course of the game, including an 11-4 advantage in the second half.
