Box Score PITTSFORD, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Lindsay Wright tallied the game-winning goal in the second half as the Knights earned a 2-1 victory over host Nazareth on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo took the lead in the first half when first-year midfielder Lindsey Matthews played on sophomore Juliette Frischmann, finding her teammate with a long through ball from the midfield to score as the Knights took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.
- Junior goalkeeper Angel Bennett helped the Knights hold the lead with five first half saves as Geneseo entered the break leading, 1-0.
- Wright scored in the 49th minute, finishing off a short pass along the goal line from senior forward Nicole Bell to give the Knights a 2-0 advantage.
- Nazareth scored in the 73rd minute to cut the lead in half and pressed for an equalizer late in the game, but Bennett made five second half saves, including two in the final 10 minutes, to preserve the Knights' victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Geneseo (4-1-0) was outshot for the first time this season as the Golden Flyers posted 17 shots while holding the Knights to just 10.
- Frischmann scored her third goal of the season while Wright tallied her second, scoring in each of the Knights' last two games.
