Box Score GENESEO, NY – The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team won its third-consecutive game on Wednesday, Sep. 15 by defeating Alfred University, 4-0. Junior forward Ryan Hilke continued his strong fall campaign with one goal and two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights struck early in the first half as first-year midfielder Stefen Nikolic made an impressive solo maneuver through the Saxons defense and powered a shot into the top left corner just five minutes into the action.
- Geneseo continued to impose their will offensively throughout the half, but struggled to find the back of the net and went into the locker rooms at halftime with just the 1-0 lead.
- In the second half, Alfred couldn't hold off the Knights attack any longer and surrendered three goals.
- Hilke was involved in all three plays by recording an assist on the first two goals and scoring his own in the 87th minute off a nice pass from junior forward Tyler Lewandowski.
- Senior forward Ari Samoohy and junior forward Eren Aydin scored the second and third goals for Geneseo, respectively.
QUICK FACTS
- Geneseo (3-2-1) picked up its third consecutive win over the Saxons, with the previous coming in 2014, where they also scored four goals in a 4-2 victory.
