Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Ryan Hilke struck gold in the 98th minute to give the Knights a 2-1 overtime victory over visiting Hobart on Saturday, Sept. 11 at College Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights conceded a penalty in the first half, falling behind 1-0 in the 35th minute, and trailed at halftime despite outshooting the Statesmen, 8-4, in the opening period.
- Late in the game, junior forward Tyler Lewandowski pounced on a loose ball at the top of the 18-yard box. Lewandowski fired a shot that caromed off a Hobart defender and in, tying the game with less than five minutes to play and forcing extra time.
- In the overtime period, Geneseo drew a foul 40 yards out on the right sideline. Senior forward Ari Samoohy served a ball toward the goal mouth where Hilke beat a defender and volleyed the ball into the corner of the net for the game-winner.
