AURORA, N.Y. - Eight different players found the cage as the SUNY Geneseo field hockey team ended a 655-day hiatus with an 8-0 victory at Wells on Wednesday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Geneseo opened the scoring just under two minutes into the game when first-year midfielder Emma Fon found the net for her first collegiate goal. Geneseo added four more goals in the opening period to take a 5-0 lead. 
• Junior forward Maggie Phipps, sophomore forward Katrina Clare, sophomore midfielder Grace Olczak and first-year midfielder Meg Pappalardo each scored for Geneseo as well. 
• Senior forwards Liz Burke, Grace Maley and Katherine Kreiss each tallied goals as the Knights closed out an 8-0 victory.  

QUICK FACTS 

• Geneseo outshot the Express, 39-0, as junior goalkeeper Sarah Quinlan earned her first collegiate win in net. Senior goalkeeper Natalie Chojnacki and first-year goalkeeper Lilly Spitz each made appearances in goal as well. 
• A total of 15 Knights made their collegiate playing debut while Fon, Olczak, Clare and Pappalardo each scored their first career goal. 
• The Knights have won four-consecutive season openers, dating back to the 2017 season.
