Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The top-ranked SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team remained unbeaten on Saturday night as they defeated Buffalo St. at the Ira S. Wilson Arena, 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights were dominant throughout the game as they out-shot the Bengals 56-16, but Geneseo struggled to break through and find the back of the net.
- Fresh off a hat-trick from the night before, senior forward Dan Bosio got the scoring started in the second period after picking up a rebound from a shot by junior forward Tyson Gilmour.
- Buffalo St. was quick to bounce back from the one-goal deficit though and netted the equalizer with five seconds left to play in the second period.
- The Knights relentless offensive attack broke through once again in the third period, with Gilmour scoring the eventual game-winner with a redirect from a shot by sophomore defender Nathan Poolman.
- The Bengals emptied their net with two minutes left to go, but the Geneseo defense held strong and improved to 10-0-1 on the season and 6-0-1 in SUNYAC play.
QUICK FACTS
- Junior goalkeeper Matt Petizian earned his seventh win of the season and tallied 15 saves.
- Gilmour registered his third two-point performance of the season, and reached double-digit points on the year with 11.
- Geneseo also dominated faceoffs against the Bengals, winning 50 out of 75 attempts.
