Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team fell in their final game before the semester break to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), 56-43.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams struggled offensively to start the game, with the Tigers holding a 4-2 lead nearly five minutes into the action. A three by first-year guard Mackenzie Reigle jump started the Knights offense and they jumped ahead 5-4.
- RIT pulled away as the firt period went on and the Knights trailed by as many as eight. Playing down 17-9, the Knights went on a 6-0 run, capped off by back-to-back buckets from junior forward Lauren Romito. However, the Tigers responded with a run of their own and took a 31-21 lead into halftime.
- Geneseo struggled to make another run in the second half and trailed by double digits for most of the third and fourth quarters before ultimately falling 56-43.
QUICK FACTS
- Romito led the offense effort with 10 points on 5-7 shooting from the floor, while senior forward Megan Roell chipped in eight points and nine rebounds.
- The Knights still hold an 18-6 advantage all-time over the Tigers, and have won six of the last 10 matchups.
