GENESEO, N.Y. - The No. 1 SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team remained unbeaten on the season and improved to 11-0-1 with a 3-1 home victory against Brockport on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Henry Cleghorn got the scoring started for the Knights as he flicked a shot past the goalkeeper nine minutes into the first period of action. Chris Perna and Matthew Doran picked up the assists on the play.
• Junior goalkeeper Matt Petizian and the Knights defense helped maintain the 1-0 lead through a scoreless second period as they succesfully killed the only two power plays.
• After dominating possession for most of the first two periods, Geneseo was able to extend its lead behind two goals within ten seconds of each other early in the third period. Tyson Gilmour scored an easy rebound off a shot from Matthew Doran and then nine seconds later Ryan Burnett intercepted a pass and found Greg Koutsomitis streaking on a fastbreak to make it a 3-0 advantage.
• Despite the Golden Eagles adding a goal later in the period to make it 3-1, Geneseo held on for the win and improved to 7-0-1 in SUNYAC play.

QUICK FACTS

• The Knights now hold a 71-23-3 advantage over Brockport all-time and have won 10-straight.
• Petizian improved to 8-0 this season with 26 saves. He now holds a 1.08 goals against average, good enough for best in the SUNYAC.
• Geneseo has now won six consecutive games, and has only allowed seven goals during that time.
