Women's Volleyball Earns Five All-SUNYAC Honors

GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior libero Emily Haber, junior outside hitter Isabella Imbo, senior setter Morgan Michalski, junior middle blocker Jackie Borland and first-year middle blocker Madison Gamberg each earned All-Conference Women's Volleyball honors, announced by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) on Wednesday morning. Haber and Imbo picked up First-Team selections, Michalski and Borland landed on Second-Team, and Gamberg earned Third-Team.

Junior libero Emily Haber earned first-team honors after she held her place at the top of the SUNYAC in digs per set all season long and finished the year with 5.61, while nobody else in the conference managed to reach the five digs per set mark. Haber's 522 digs moves her into the top 10 all-time for digs in a season. With two seasons under her belt, she currently sits at 728 career digs and an average of 3.85 per set. In addition to her strong defensive play, she also led the team in service aces with 31. Her season was highlighted by a 40-dig performance in a three-set win over Elizabethtown on Sep. 11, which set a new program record for digs in a three-set match.

Junior outside hitter Isabella Imbo earned first-team honors after being the primary offensive weapon for the Knights throughout the season, as she led the team in kills and attack attempts with 251 and 890, respectively. She finished the season top-10 in the conference in total kills and kills per set. Imbo tallied a season-high 16 kills against Brockport in the SUNYAC semifinals on Nov. 5, and she recorded double-digit kills 16 times throughout the season. She also recorded a season-high hitting percentage on Oct. 1 in three-set win over Oswego, where she put up 13 kills and just two errors for a .379 hitting percentage.

Senior setter Morgan Michalski brought home second-team honors after executing the offensive game plan for the Knights all season as she tallied 700 assists for an average of 7.53 per set. Michalski finished third in the SUNYAC in total assists, just five shy of the top spot. In the Knights SUNYAC semifinal win over Brockport, she recorded her 1,000th career assist and has moved into the top-12 all-time for the program. Michalski put up a season-high 39 assists in Geneseo's regular season win over Brockport on Sep. 15, while also reaching the 10 assists per set mark in victories over Plattsburgh and Buffalo St. on Oct. 8 and Oct. 16, respectively.

Junior middle blocker Jackie Borland picked up second-team honors after putting up a stellar season out of the middle for the Knights. Borland was Geneseo's most efficient offensive weapon as she tallied a team-high .278 hitting percentage with 145 kills, 42 errors, and 371 attempts. She also finished second on the team in total kills. On the defensive end, Borland was key to stopping the opponents attack and finished the year with a team-high 80 blocks on 18 solo blocks and 62 block assists. Her block totals were good enough for fourth best in the SUNYAC. Her season was highlighted by a three-set win over Plattsburgh on Oct. 8, where she tallied 11 kills and a .556 hitting percentage.

First-year middle blocker Madison Gamberg rounded out the All-SUNYAC selections for the Knights by earning a third-team selection. Gamberg finished the season with 126 kills, good enough for third-best on the team. She joined Borland as a consistent option out of the middle by tallying a .251 hitting percentage. Her rookie campaign was highlighted by two double-digit kill performances with 12 kills in a five-set defeat to Haverford, and 10 kills in the five-set regular season win over Brockport on Sep. 15. She put up a .667 hitting percentage twice during the season, on Oct. 8 against Plattsburgh with six kills on nine swings, and on Oct. 23 against Oneonta with eight kills on 12 swings.
