Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team dropped its home opener to Alfred on Tuesday night, 83-74.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights took an early 11-5 lead in the first half behind three straight buckets from senior forward Michael Gannon, junior forward Raymond Grabowski, and first-year guard Sebastian Pacheco.
- The Saxons rebounded from the early deficit to take a 12-11 lead, and then the remainder of the first half saw a lot of back-and-forth action with 18 lead changes during the first 20 minutes of action.
- Alfred took control of the game early in the second half and led by as many as 12. However, Geneseo fought back and eventually cut the lead to as little as four points at 68-64 after a three-pointer from sophomore guard Tim Giblin.
- The Knights were unable to complete their second-half comeback attempt and ultimately fell 83-74.
QUICK FACTS
- Geneseo saw four players reach double-digit points, Gannon with 17, graduate guard Terrance Nichols with 13, and with 10 points each was junior guards Harrison Dignan and Cole Kattan.
- Dignan also tallied team-highs in rebounds, assists and steals with four in each category.
- Gannon leads the Knights in points per game this season with 17.3, and remains an efficient shooter from the floor shooting 55.1 percent as well as a 59.1 percentage from deep.
