Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo Field Hockey team earned its sixth victory of the season on Wednesday night, the sixth day of October, defeating Houghton, 6-0, at College Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior forward Maggie Phipps opened the scoring in the first quarter, finishing off a pass from senior forward Grace Maley to put the Knights ahead, 1-0.
- Junior defender Sydney Carnival added a goal with just 11 seconds left in the frame to put the Knights ahead, 2-0, heading into the second period.
- The Knights and Highlanders played through a scoreless second quarter, despite Geneseo outshooting Houghton, 4-0.
- In the third quarter, Phipps dissected the Highlander defense off the first whistle and slid a pass to first-year forward Ada Roe who hammered a shot home to make it 3-0 just seconds into the frame.
- Later in the period, junior midfielder Allie Ball and junior midfielder Cassidy Sturdevant each tallied goals as the Geneseo lead extended to 5-0 entering the fourth quarter.
- With just under four minutes to play, senior forward Grace Maley fired a shot off the pads of the goalkeeper, but the rebound went straight to sophomore midfielder Grace Olczak who one-timed the ball into the cage, making it 6-0.

- Geneseo (6-4) earned its third-consecutive shutout, and has outscored opponents, 12-0, in that span.
- Phipps finished with a goal and two assists while Maley tallied a pair of assists as eight different Knights tallied at least one point.
- Junior goalkeeper Sarah Quinlan earned the victory in goal while first-year goalkeeper Lily Spitz made the Knights' lone save in the second half.
