Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore forward Katrina Clare scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season but it wasn't enough to overcome host Rochester as the Knights fell to the YellowJackets, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rochester got on the board early, converting a penalty corner in the first quarter to take a 1-0 lead. The Knights outshot the YellowJackets, 10-3, in the first half but could not find the cage and went into halftime trailing by a goal.
- Clare tied the game, 1-1, six minutes into the third quarter. Sophomore defender Olivia Hernick ripped a shot off of a penalty corner set play and Clare deflected it past the goalkeeper to level the score.
- Near the end of the third frame, Rochester regained the lead. Junior defender Sadie Mitchell came up with a defensive save, but later in the sequence the YellowJackets were awarded a stroke. Rochester converted on the penalty stroke to take the lead, 2-1, with just under a minute to play in the third.
- The Knights nearly tied the game on a penalty corner in the final period, but Mitchell's shot off the set piece went wide of the post. Rochester added an insurance goal late in the game to take the 3-1 victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Junior goalkeeper Sarah Quinlan made eight stops while Mitchell and sophomore defender Emma Paris were each awarded a defensive save.
- Hernick earned her first career assist and first career point.
- Clare leads the team with nine goals and 19 points on the season.

Geneseo heads into the postseason as the third seed in the SUNYAC Tournament. The Knights will travel to face second seed Cortland on Wednesday, Nov. 3 with game time scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
