Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Maggie Phipps scored twice and dealt out an assist as the Knights earned a 4-1 victory over visiting Brockport on Wednesday afternoon at College Stadium. With the victory, the Knights clinched a postseason berth, qualifying for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Phipps put the Knights on the board early, finishing off a pass from first-year midfielder Emma Fon to give the HOSTs a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the contest.
- Brockport tied the game midway through the first period, but junior defender Sadie Mitchell gave the Knights a 2-1 advantage with an odd-angle shot that beat the Brockport goalkeeper to the near post.
- Just 50 seconds into the second period, sophomore forward Katrina Clare scored, finishing off an assist from Phipps to give the Knights a 3-1 lead.
- Under two minutes before the halftime break, Phipps dribbled past a pair of Brockport defenders to create a shooting lane and fired a rocket past the goaltender to make it 4-1.
- The Knights outshot Brockport 8-2 in the second half and limited the Golden Eagles to just three penalty corners as they rode out the three-goal victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Phipps tallied her fifth and sixth goal of the year, registering her sixth-career multi-goal game and second of the season.
- Clare scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season while Sturdevant and Phipps each tallied their fifth assist of the year and remain tied for the team lead.
- Mitchell tallied her fourth goal in four games for the Knights. She has tallied four goals in the teams last four games after 21-consecutive contests without a score in her career before the streak.
- Junior goalkeeper Sarah Quinlan recorded three saves to earn the victory in goal.

The Knights earned the third seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and will travel to face second-seeded Cortland on Wednesday, Nov. 3 in the SUNYAC Semifinals.
