HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo took an early lead in the first half, capitalizing on a set piece. First-year midfielder Vasion Sinjari fired a free kick from 40 yards out to the head of first-year defender Joe Vogt who vollied the ball across the goal mouth. Junior forward Ryan Hilke got on the end of it, heading the ball into the far side netting to put the Knights ahead, 1-0.
- In just the second minute of the second half, Geneseo extended its lead to 2-0 on another reset. The Knights earned a free kick 35 yards out and first-year defender Liam Mulholland hit the crossbar off the kick. The rebound came down to the feet of junior forward Eren Aydin, who buried the sitter for a two-goal lead.
- After Fredonia tightened the score with a goal of their own, Geneseo tallied back-to-back goals just 1:50 apart. Junior forward Matt Volz and first-year midfielder Maxwell Fiorica each scored off of assists from Aydin to make it 4-1 with just over a half-hour to play.
