Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team moved one step closer to clinching top seed and home field advantage throughout the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament with a 7-0 victory over host Buffalo State on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights opened the scoring 15 minutes into the game as senior forward Hannah Sullivan notched a tally to make it 1-0.
- First-year midfielder Lindsey Matthews, senior forward Nicole Bell and sophomore forward Juliette Frischmann each scored over a 3:30 span beginning in the 27th minute to propel Geneseo to a 4-0 lead.
- Junior forward Lindsay Wright and junior back Emily Owenburg each added scores before the halftime break as the Knights took a 6-0 lead into the second period.
- In the second half, sophomore forward Alexandra Ross tallied a goal to lift the Knights to a 7-0 lead that the squad held for the remainder of the competition.
QUICK FACTS
- Geneseo remains atop the SUNYAC standings and would clinch the top seed and home field throughout the SUNYAC Tournament with a draw or win on Saturday at Fredonia.
- Sullivan and Bell each tallied their sixth goal of the season, tying sophomore forward Liv Raucci for the team lead. Sullivan also registered her team-high ninth assist of the year.
- Junior goalkeeper Angel Bennett started the game and saved the only shot she faced in the first half. First-year goalkeeper Mollie Collins came in for the second half and did not face a shot.
