Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team scored three first-half goals on their way to a 4-0 victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe Brockport on Saturday at College Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior midfielder Adam Astarita beat a defender down the right flank and centered a pass to the feet of Hilke, who turned and fired a shot to the side netting, putting Geneseo ahead, 1-0.
- Later in the first half, junior midfielder Justin Arilotta chipped a pass for junior forward Eren Aydin, who ran onto it and lofted a shot over the charging keeper into the net, making it 2-0.
- Just minutes later, senior forward Ari Samoohy received a through-ball from Hilke on the right flank and fired a missile from a bad angle over the goalkeeper's shoulder and in, giving the Knights a 3-0 lead at the break.
- In the second half, junior midfielder Liam Mulderig deked a defender to generate space and slipped a pass into first-year midfielder Stefen Nikolic who nestled a shot from the six-yard box into the side netting for a 4-0 lead.
QUICK FACTS
- Geneseo earned its first victory over Brockport since the 2016 campaign, a 1-0 win over the Golden Eagles. It's the Knights' most lopsided victory over their conference rival since 2000.
- Junior goalkeeper Will Price earned his third shutout of the season, finishing with three saves to keep the clean sheet.
- Hilke finished with a goal and assist to lead seven Knights with at least one point.
