Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year midfielder Stefen Nikolic scored the game's first goal, but Plattsburgh rallied in the second half as the Knights fell to the visiting Cardinals, 2-1, at College Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nikolic opened the scoring in the first half, striking a rocket over the goalkeeper's shoulder to put the Knights ahead, 1-0, in the 29th minute. Junior forward Ryan Hilke earned the assist on the play.
- Geneseo outshot the Cardinals, 5-2, in the first half, but their lead remained at just 1-0 entering the halftime break.
- In the second half, Plattsburgh struck quickly finishing a set piece with a header on the far post to tie the game in the 47th minute.
- With just over 15 minutes to play, the Cardinals scored off another set piece, this time converting off a corner kick to take a 2-1 lead.
- Geneseo generated several chances over the final few minutes but the Knights could not find the equalizer and fell, 2-1.
