Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior forward Kerrin Montgomery led the Knights in scoring with eight points, but it was host New Paltz earning a SUNYAC win, 48-40, Friday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Megan Roell finished a layup at the 2:12 mark of the first quarter to give the Knights an 8-4 edge, but the Hawks ended the opening period of play on a 5-0 scoring to take the lead, 9-8.

First-year guard Hannah Stockman connected on a three-pointer with 6:41 remaining in the half to tie the game, 11-11. First-year forward Lauren Romito tallied four points in the closing minutes of the half, but New Paltz took a 28-22 advantage into the break after a back-and-forth second quarter between the two sides.

The Knights rushed out to an 8-0 scoring run to begin the third quarter of action, capped by a jumper by junior guard Lindsay Halpin at the 3:46 mark to give Geneseo its first lead of the second half, 30-28. The Hawks answered with a 6-0 scoring run of their own to take the lead entering the final period of play, 34-30.

Senior guard Sara Ciotti drilled a jumper with 5:45 remaining in the game to give the Knights a four-point advantage, 38-34, as Geneseo jumped out to its second-consecutive 8-0 scoring run to begin a period. The Knights fell behind once again, and a pair of turnovers in the final minute of the contest gave way to a New Paltz victory, 48-40.
