Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. - SUNY Geneseo senior guard Sara Ciotti scored 15 points and added nine rebounds as the Knights defeated Connecticut College, 51-36, in the first round of the Judy Pearson Tournament, hosted by Babson, on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Knights jumped out to an 8-3 lead and lead by as many as seven points as first-year forward Lauren Romito scored seven first-quarter points, but the Camels cut the lead to 13-10 at the period break.
In the second quarter, Geneseo opened up a 13-4 run to take a 26-14 lead. Stockman drilled a three-pointer in the final seconds of the second quarter to give the Knights a 31-17 halftime advantage.
The Knights opened the second half with six-straight points to take a 20-point lead, their largest of the game, but Connecticut College cut the lead to 10 points with 3:05 remaining in the game.
Ciotti drilled a three-pointer with 2:08 to play and junior forward Kerrin Montgomery added a putback layup with 1:28 remaining to extend the lead to 15 points and seal the win.
QUICK FACTS
Geneseo outrebounded the Camels, 52-32, including 19 offensive rebounds. Montgomery led the team with 15 rebounds, including seven offensive boards.
The Knights shot a season-low 30.0% (18-for-60) from the field, but held the Camels to just 14-for-53 (26.4%) shooting on the day.
First-year guard Hannah Stockman made her Geneseo debut, scoring three points in six minutes off the bench.

The Knights will face Wesleyan (Conn.), who defeated host Babson, 65-57, in the other first round contest at 2:00 p.m.
