Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Tyson Empey registered his 100th-career point and first-year goalkeeper Matt Petizian notched his first career shutout as the Knights blanked Morrisville, 6-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights gained the lead five minutes into the contest when junior forward Devin Brink scored off an assist from senior defenseman Tanner Salsberry. Junior forward Carson Kelley added a tally later in the period as the Knights entered the first intermission leading, 2-0.
- Geneseo added a tally in the second period as sophomore forward Brendan Miller scored just 3:48 into the frame. Petizian made seven saves in the second period to keep the Mustangs off the board.
- The Knights scored a power play goal to open the third period as senior forward Andrew Romano cashed in on assists from Empey and senior forward Conlan Keenan.
- Kelley and Empey scored third-period goals as well to add on to send the Knights to victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Empey tallied his 100th-career point, becoming the fourth active member of the Knights with at least 100 career points. Empey, Romano, Keenan and senior forward David Szmyd have each reached 100 career points.
- Geneseo is the only team in all of NCAA Hockey (all divisions, men and women) to have four active members with 100 or more career points.
- Petizian finished with 15 saves to earn his first career shutout.
