Box Score FREDONIA, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior guard Sara Ciotti contributed 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds as the Knights cruised to a road victory over Fredonia, 53-37, Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Five different Knights contributed baskets during the first quarter of play as junior guard Lindsay Halpin finished a driving layup at the 2:48 mark to give Geneseo a 10-6 lead.
- Sophomore forward Megan Roell scored the opening basket in the second quarter, a layup giving the Knights a 12-6 edge just nine seconds into the period. Geneseo soared to a 23-9 halftime advantage, closing out the second quarter with a 9-0 run in the last 9:32, highlighted by a transition three-pointer from Ciotti at the 6:33 mark.
- Ciotti drilled her third three-pointer of the contest with 6:33 remaining in the third quarter to give the Knights a 35-11 lead, part of another 9-0 scoring run that left Geneseo with a 39-11 edge at the 5:38 mark, its largest lead of the game. The Knights finished the quarter outscoring Fredonia, 21-13.
- First-year forward Lauren Romito nailed a jumper with 4:57 remaining in the game, giving Geneseo a 51-30 lead. First-year forward Madison Hoyt followed up on the next possession with a three-pointer, making it a 53-30 advantage. Fredonia finished the game with seven-straight points but it wasn't enough to top the Knights.
