GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Kerrin Montgomery scored 20 points as the Knights fell in overtime, 71-67, to visiting New Paltz Friday at Schrader Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• New Paltz opened the game on a 11-0 run over the first 3:09. Montgomery ended the run with a layup to get the Knights on the board 11-2. 

• Geneseo closed the quarter trailing 21-15 after Montgomery knocked down a pair of free throws. 

• Sophomore forward Megan Roell tied the game at 26-26 midway through the second quarter with a layup and Montgomery made a layup to give the Knights their first lead of the game, 30-29, with three minutes left in the half. 

• Junior guard Lindsay Halpin extended the Knights lead to 39-32 by knocking down a half-court buzzer beater.

• New Paltz ripped off their second 11-0 run of the game to tie the game at 62-62 with 0:56 left to play. 

• As regulation time expired, senior guard Sara Ciotti missed a potential game-winning layup through traffic, forcing overtime.

• Halpin opened the overtime period with a three-pointer, but New Paltz closed the game on a 7-0 run to win 71-67.

• Geneseo shot 13-14 (92.9%) from the free-throw line, their best percentage of the season. 

• Halpin shot 5-9 (.556%) from beyond the arc and finishe with 17 points.

• Montgomery notched her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 20 points and adding 13 rebounds.

• The Knights fell to New Paltz for the fourth-consecutive meeting, and are now 0-3 in overtime games against the Hawks.
