GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore guard Lindsay Halpin totaled 11 points while senior forward McKenna Brooks added seven points and 11 rebounds, but it was visiting Oneonta earning a 44-42 victory over the No. 15 Knights in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball, Friday. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Oneonta scored the first field goal of the game, but Geneseo scored 10-straight points to build a 10-2 lead with 3:55 on the first-quarter clock en route to a 12-4 lead after 10 minutes of play. 
• The Red Dragons opened the second quarter with a 6-0 run before to pull within two, but a Brooks free-throw followed by a Halpin three-pointer pushed Geneseo back to a 16-10 edge at 6:39.
• Oneonta scored a 5-0 spurt but another Halpin three-pointer followed by a three-point play by sophomore forward Kerrin Montgomery gave the Knights a 21-15 lead with 2:49 left in the half. 
• Oneonta closed the quarter on a 7-2 run to pull within one, 23-22, at halftime. 
• Brooks kicked off the second half with a lay-up off a feed by sophomore guard Natalie Alfieri with 8:56 on the clock, but the Red Dragons scored five of the next seven points to take a 28-27 lead at the 4:03 mark. 
• Geneseo (17-2, 10-2 SUNYAC) re-took a 33-28 lead on back-to-back three-pointers by Halpin at 3:51 and senior guard Sara Ciotti at 2:40, but Oneonta finished the quarter on a 7-2 run to take a 37-35 edge it would not relinquish. 
• A pair of Montgomery free-throws to start the fourth tied the game, 37-37, at 7:51, but Oneonta (15-4, 9-3 SUNYAC) responded with four-straight points for a 41-37 lead at 6:46. 
• Ciotti drained a three-pointer from the top-right corner to pull the Knights within one with 5:21 remaining, but Oneonta responded with a three of its own for a 44-40 lead with 4:55 left in the game. 
• Montgomery scored the lone points the rest of the way on a lay-up at 1:48. Geneseo had three possession in the final minute, but couldn't find the equalizer. 

GAME NOTES 

• Geneseo suffered its first home loss in 21-straight appearances in Schrader Gymnasium dating back to its 2017 SUNYAC Tournament Championship game setback versus New Paltz, 58-57, on Feb. 24, 2017. 
• The Knights shot a season-low 27.3 percent (15-for-55) from the field. 
• Geneseo was out-rebounded for only the third time this winter, 43-37. 
• The Red Dragons avenged a 56-48 setback to the visiting Knights (Jan. 11) last month.
