GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Conlan Keenan scored two goals and added a pair of assists as the Knights shook off a two-goal first period deficit to defeat visiting Fredonia, 5-2, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on Saturday night at Ira S. Wilson Arena. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Fredonia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, scoring midway through the period and again just before intermission. 
• Geneseo got on the board just over six minutes into the second period when senior forward Andrew Romano buried a loose puck in front, making it 2-1. 
• Keenan scored back-to-back goals, tying the game with 9:41 to play in the second before he sent the Knights ahead 3-2 with a power play goal just 2:20 later. 
• Sophomore defenseman Matthew Doran added a power-play tally late in the second period to lift Geneseo to a 4-2 advantage, burying a snap shot from the point. 
• Senior forward Tyson Empey added his team-leading eighth goal of the season, his sixth power play tally of the year, in the third period as the Knights put away the Blue Devils.

QUICK FACTS 

• Geneseo went 4-for-5 on the power play against a Fredonia special teams unit that had killed off 30 out of 31 penalties entering Saturday night. 
• Romano finished with a goal and three assists, while Empey added a goal and two assists. 
• First-year goalkeeper Matt Petizian made 19 saves to earn his third win of the season. 
• The Knights lead the nation in power play goals (23), power play percentage (40.4%, 23-for-57) and scoring margin (+3.38 goals per game). 
• Empey leads the country with six power play goals while Romano ranks first in the nation with 18 points and 2.25 points per game.
