Box Score UTICA, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo first-year forward Cara O'Shea scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the final minutes of regulation to lead the Knights to a 4-3 victory at Utica, Wednesday.
First-year forward Maggie Phipps scored two goals, including the game-tying tally in the 50th minute, and assisted O'Shea's deciding goal as Geneseo (13-2) won its 10th-consecutive victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights opened a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes of play. Senior back Julia Kim scored off a rebound in the fourth minute of the game before Phipps got on the board 10 minutes later.
- Utica scored in the 24th minute to pull within one, 2-1, at halftime. The Pioneers opened the second half with back-to-back goals in a two-minute span to lead, 3-2, with 11:31 left in the third quarter.
- Phipps tied the game in the fifth minute of the fourth quarter before feeding O'Shea for the deciding tally with 2:29 left in the game.
MATCH NOTES
- Sophomore goalie Natalie Chojnacki notched seven saves to preserve Geneseo's 12th victory in its last 13 outings.
- Geneseo allowed more than two goals for only the third time this season. The Knights fell, 4-1, at Vassar (Aug. 31) in their second game of the season and, 4-2, at St. John Fisher (Sept. 11) prior to their current unbeaten streak.
- The Knights ended the game with a 20-13 advantage in shots.

Geneseo hosts SUNYAC rival Oneonta this Saturday (Oct. 19) at 4:00 p.m. The four members of the senior class – Kim, Elisa Arcara, Erin Nolan and Ariana Walczyk – will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony prior to the game.
