McKenna Brooks scored 18 points and secured eight rebounds as the No. 24 Knights earned a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoff berth with a 67-46 victory over Cortland,
Saturday at Schrader Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo began the game on an 11-0 run, holding the Red Dragons scoreless over the first 6:27 of the game. Junior guard Kelsey Poplawski drilled two three-pointers during the stretch.
- Cortland rallied back to within five points, and trailed 17-12 at the end of the first period.
- In the second quarter, the Knights shot 10-for-14 (71.4%) from the floor to build up a 41-24 halftime lead. Brooks finished the first half with 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting.
- Brooks added six points in the third quarter on 3-for-4 shooting, while first-year guard Lindsay Halpin scored five points and added two assists in the frame as Geneseo finished the period leading 56-35.
- The Knights closed out the game in the fourth quarter as senior guard Sam Barry drilled a three-pointer to cap the Geneseo scoring.

- Brooks' 8-for-9 performance from the field ranks third in Geneseo history for highest field goal percentage in a game, topping Sue Lind's 13-15 shooting performance against Alfred in 1987.
