Box Score ONEONTA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior setter Emily Ast totaled 29 assists and 10 digs but it was Fredonia taking down the Knights, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-21) in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool Play action, Friday, hosted by Oneonta.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first set, Geneseo bounced back from an early 5-2 deficit to take a 15-10 lead. The Knights pushed their lead to a 21-13 edge, but Fredonia battled back with a 12-2 run to take the opener.
- Geneseo led, 11-7, in the second, but the Blue Devils scored seven-unanswered points to take a 14-11 lead they would not relinquish.
- The Knights once again opened a lead in the third set, 14-9, and broke a 14-14 tie with four-straight points for an 18-14 lead. However, Fredonia finished the set with an 11-3 run to close the match.
QUICK FACTS
- Sophomore libero Sam Mendelsohn compiled a match-high 23 digs to eclipse the 900-dig plateau for her career, totaling 902 to date.
- Sophomore outside hitter Abby May led the Knights with 11 kills while sophomore outside hitter Grace Cergol added 10 kills.
