Field Hockey Falls To New Paltz, 5-1

GENESEO N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore forward Gabriella Clare scored a goal, but it was New Paltz defeating the host Knights, 5-1, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) field hockey action, Saturday 

The Hawks (6-2, 3-0 SUNYAC) opened the scoring in the 17th minute through senior forward Erin Landry. New Paltz added another goal in the 31st minute, which was scored by senior forward Kayla McKeveny, one of her two goals on the day.

McKeveny scored a goal four minutes into the second half as the Hawks eventually built a 5-0 lead with under 20 minutes to play.

The Knights lone goal of the game came in the 70th minute from Clare. She was assisted on the play by junior forward Cara Stafford, who showed some nice moves along the right end line before playing the ball in front of the goal to Clare.

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 28) at home against Saint John Fisher at 7:00 pm.
