Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior guard Dana Cohan and junior guard Katie Durand each scored 14 points to lead the Knights to a 87-34 victory over Buffalo State in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball, Tuesday.
Geneseo (15-5, 10-3 SUNYAC) shot an efficient 50.8 percent (30-of-59) for the game while limiting the Bengals (9-13, 5-10 SUNYAC) to 21.3 percent (13-of-61). The Knights also out-rebounded the visitors by a 50-31 margin.
A lay-up by senior forward Jordan Yastremski pulled Buffalo State within a point, 13-12, with 1:48 remaining in the first quarter, but the Knights took command with a 19-1 run over an 8:19 span of play to build a 32-13 lead with 3:29 on the second-quarter clock. Durand capped the run with one of her three strikes from long-range in the first half.
Buffalo State went without another field goal until 2:11 of the second quarter while Geneseo shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28), including 6-of-9 three-pointers, to lead 40-19 at intermission.
Geneseo scored 22 of the first 30 points of the third quarter as the Knights grew their lead to 53 by the final horn en route to their eighth victory in its last nine outings.
The Knights hit the road for a pair of conference games later this week, taking on host Oneonta on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and host New Paltz on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
