Box Score OSWEGO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior guard Dana Cohan notched 15 points and handed out seven assists to lead the Knights to a 75-41 victory at Oswego in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball action, Tuesday.
Junior guard Kayleigh Cavanaugh scored 12 points off the bench, including four-of-four from long range, and grabbed six rebounds while senior forward Allison McKenna added 12 points in the win. Sophomore guard Courtney Ameele led the way for the Lakers with a game-high 17 points.
Ahead by two, 12-10, at 4:19 in the first quarter, Geneseo went on a 14-0 run to hold a 16-point lead, 26-10, at 7:49 in the second quarter. Ameele made a three-pointer to end the Lakers' scoring drought.
At 2:06 in the second quarter, junior guard Katie Durand knocked down a jumper to put the Knights up by 20, 41-21, as the score read, 45-25, at halftime. Durand finished the night with five points and five rebounds.
Geneseo opened the third quarter with a 10-2 run to take a 55-27 lead with 6:09 on the clock. The spurt was capped by a jumper from Cohan. At the 3:24 mark, first-year forward McKenna Brooks scored a lay-up to make it 61-28.
The Knights scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and held Oswego (4-20, 2-15 SUNYAC) to just seven to secure the victory in their final road game of the regular season. Geneseo shot 50 percent from the field and totaled 21 points off the Lakers' 20 turnovers.
The Knights (17-6, 12-4 SUNYAC) play their final two games of the regular season this weekend at home. Following a match-up with Potsdam on Friday at 5:30 p.m., the squad faces Plattsburgh on Saturday at 2 p.m.
