Field Hockey Shuts Out Oswego, 5-0

OSWEGO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore midfielder Tess Necaise scored three goals to lead the Knights to a 5-0 shutout at Oswego in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) field hockey action, Saturday. The victory was the fifth-straight for Geneseo.

The victory clinched the Knights the third seed for the SUNYAC Tournament, which is set to start on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at an opponent to be determined. 

Geneseo (6-8, 4-2 SUNYAC) scored all five of their goals in the first half. Neciase scored twice in the first 11 minutes of the game, before junior forward Giovanna Fasanello made it a 3-0 match in the 14th minute.

Junior midfielder Cara Stafford scored off the second of two assists in the game from junior midfielder Morgan Maley, before Necaise completed the hat-trick in the 31st minute for what turned out to be the final goal of the match.

Junior goalie Nicole Gregg was credited with six saves opposite the Lakers (7-3, 2-2 SUNYAC) to preserve her third shut-out of the season. 

Geneseo travels to Houghton on Tuesday (Oct. 18) for a 7:00 p.m. match.
