GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Allison McKenna scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds while senior guard Dana Cohan recorded 17 points, six rebounds and eight assists to lead the Knights to a 53-39 victory over visiting Oneonta in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play, Friday.

In a re-match of last season's SUNYAC Semifinal, Geneseo allowed only one double-digit scorer on the night and held the Red Dragons to their second-lowest scoring output of the season (38 vs. Middlebury).

"I thought our team came mentally committed to the game plan and that paid big dividends for us on the defensive end of the floor," said head coach Scott Hemer. "We understood that their defense was going to pose some challenges for us offensively and we were going to have to step up at the other end of the floor to keep ourselves in the game until we got into a rhythm."

Trailing 10-9 at 8:55 in the second quarter, the Knights went on a 7-0 run to take a 16-10 lead at 7:44. The run was capped by a lay-up from McKenna. Leading by just one, 16-15, at 4:01, Geneseo scored 10-straight points to close the half and take a 26-15 advantage into the break.

At 6:28 in the third quarter, McKenna made two free-throws to put the hosts up by 15, 31-16. Oneonta (7-4, 3-1 SUNYAC) responded with a 10-2 run to cut its deficit to seven, 33-26, at 1:46, but it was the Knights taking a 37-27 lead into the final quarter.

Geneseo (7-2, 2-0 SUNYAC) opened the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run to take its largest lead of the game, 44-27, at 7:17 and led by double digits for the remainder of the game. 

The Knights continue conference action tomorrow at home opposite New Paltz at 2 p.m.
