GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Allison McKenna totaled 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Knights to a 76-53 victory against visiting Fredonia in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, Tuesday night.

During tonight's game, McKenna notched her 1,000th-career point and now stands 14th on Geneseo's all-time scoring list with 1,012. Junior guard Kara Houppert had 12 points while senior guard Dana Cohan and junior guard Katie Durand each added 11 points and six rebounds in the win.

Trailing 8-4 at 4:03 in the first quarter, senior forward Lea Sobieraski made a lay-up to spark a 6-0 run to give the Knights a 10-8 edge at 2:11. Following a three-pointer from Blue Devils' junior guard Taylor Storer with 32 seconds on the clock that made it 13-12, Durand hit a jumper to give the hosts a one-point edge at the end of the quarter.

Leading 24-21 with 3:59 to play in the second quarter, Geneseo went on a 13-2 run to close the half and take a 37-23 lead into the break. The run was capped by a lay-up by junior forward Katie Vienneau.

At 7:47 in the third quarter, McKenna made a lay-up to put the Knights up by 18, 42-24. Junior guard Alexis Cheatham scored from long range to bring Fredonia (7-3, 2-1 SUNYAC) within 11 at 2:26, 47-36, but the Knights took a 14-point lead into the final quarter, 52-38.

Ahead 60-48 with 5:32 remaining in the fourth quarter, Geneseo went on 16-5 run to close the game and capture the conference win. The Knights finished with a 53-22 advantage in rebounds and recorded 30 points in the paint.

Geneseo (6-2, 1-0 SUNYAC) returns to action this Friday at home against Oneonta. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
